Pierre BERTRAND

BIOGRAPHY

Over the past 15 years, Pierre Bertrand has built a multifaceted career that makes him one of the most active and inventive french jazz creators. He is mainly looked upon as a saxophone and flute player but he has become very famous for his work as a composer and leader of great bands. With regard to big bands, Bertrand’s music is very often played by the leading french band "Paris Jazz Big Band", he founded in 1998 with the trumpet player Nicolas Folmer.   However, Bertrand has many more works than those contained in the repertoire of these big bands. Soundtracks are an important part of his catalogue, including several TV movies and feature films such as "La Grande Vie" (2009) directed by Emmanuel Salinger. He was the big band arranger of Claude Nougaro's latest album. He also signed orchestration scores for Charles Aznavour, Murray Head, Holiday On Ice, Enrico Macias, the musical Play Piaf, among others...
